I offer the following 1:1 individual services, in-person or virtually:
Homework Help
I teach students to prepare, plan, and prioritize their assignments, use effective time-management and organizational techniques, and develop other executive-functioning skills.
ACADEMIC TUTORING
I support students' academic success by reviewing in-class skills and prior assignments, previewing upcoming content, and providing challenging extension or remedial activities.
CRITICAL SKILLS TUTORING
I specialize in tailoring my tutoring sessions to develop critical thinking, literary analysis, and academic writing abilities often needed for extracurricular or school applications and college essays.
PARENT COACHING
When appropriate, I also work directly with parents to determine the best learning plan for their child, provide guidance on the special education process, and/or incorporate healthy study habits into the home environment.
Elementary School
I am a certified elementary school teacher with a decade of classroom experience, teaching students from Preschool through 5th grade. I offer tutoring for students across these grade levels in all core academic subjects, including English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Spanish.
In addition to subject-area tutoring, I support students in developing strong executive function skills. This includes help with planning, organization, time management, study habits, and building routines that support independent learning and confidence in school.
My approach is child-centered, strengths-based, and responsive to each student’s learning style and developmental needs. I work with families - and when appropriate, other teachers and professionals - to provide consistent, thoughtful support that helps students grow academically and build skills they can carry across school and life.
Middle School and High School
I also work with middle and high school students, offering tutoring focused on critical thinking, analytical reading, and strong academic writing to prepare them for success in secondary school and college applications. My work supports students in developing clear, confident written expression across genres, including analytical essays, personal statements, and reflective writing. I guide students through thoughtful exploration of personal identity, intellectual interests, and extracurricular experiences, drawing on my advanced graduate education and professional training in the VIA Character Strengths Profile to help them identify and articulate their strengths. I collaborate directly with families and, when helpful, liaise with education consultants or college counselors to ensure that support is aligned and developmentally appropriate throughout the process.
About Me
I bring extensive experience collaborating with families, therapists, counselors, and general education teachers to develop thoughtful, individualized study plans for children. I have worked closely with multilingual and neurodivergent students with documented 504 Plans and IEPs, integrating accommodations and modifications that honor each child’s learning style. I also support families as they navigate the diagnostic process and deepen their understanding of their child’s unique learning profile.
I am an experienced educator with advanced training and qualifications, including a Master’s in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, a Master's in Educational Anthropology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and public school teaching certification. I currently teach on the Primary School Faculty at Montclair Kimberley Academy in Essex County, NJ, and am a Ph.D. Candidate at Teachers College, Columbia University.
